The islands, today
With complete certainty, the change experienced by the Pitiusas during last the 30 or 40 years has been the greatest since the Catalan conquest in 1235. The tourist boom of the sixties transformed the island society and turned everything upside down.
Eivissa happened to be a poor island from where quite often it was necessary to emigrate to survive. And it also became a place for immigration.
